Mainframe Studios, founded in 1993, pioneered the first fully CG TV series, ReBoot. They’ve produced over 1,000 TV episodes, 60+ feature projects, and two theatrical films, known for blending creativity with efficient production. In 2017, they merged with Frederator Networks to form WOW! Unlimited Media Inc., where Mainframe operates as a division. 

Engagement 1: Manager Program

Challenge

Mainframe Studios recognized an opportunity to support managers who had grown within the company or were stepping into leadership roles for the first time. In a collaborative and artistic environment, managers often navigate unique dynamics, such as leading close colleagues or addressing challenging situations like delivering constructive feedback, managing conflict, and holding performance conversations. The company aimed to equip their managers with the skills and confidence to communicate, collaborate, and lead effectively, ensuring they could inspire their teams while maintaining strong working relationships.

SkillsCamp Solution

To address these needs, we designed, developed, and delivered a program covering nine essential topics in 90-minute live online sessions. Topics included personal leadership, unconscious bias, growth mindset, imposter syndrome, conflict resolution, and delivering feedback. This program equipped managers with the soft skills they needed to immediately apply to their roles, helping them navigate complex interpersonal dynamics.

Engagement 2: Communications Program

Challenge

Mainframe Studios wanted to build upon the success of the first program and equip their teams with essential soft skills for effective communication. They were also seeking a facilitator who could relate to the media/production industry to ensure the content and delivery were highly relevant to the audience.

SkillsCamp Solution

We designed, developed, and delivered a communications program covering four topics: virtual communication & communicating effectively over a screen, leading collaborative teams [virtual], cultivating assertiveness and communication styles, and delivering feedback. Additionally, one of our facilitators, who had a strong background in media, led the training sessions, providing relevant real-life examples and a deep understanding of the audience.

Results:

  • The majority of participants rated their workshop experience as 8 or higher out of 10.
  • 79% of respondents gave their workshop facilitator a rating of 8 or higher out of 10.
  • The majority of respondents expressed a strong likelihood of recommending SkillCamp to others.
