The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®), established in 1904, is a nonprofit organization that collaborates with state pharmacy boards to enhance patient and prescription drug safety. NABP provides services such as pharmacist competency examinations, licensure transfer and verification, and pharmacy accreditation programs. Its membership includes the 50 U.S. state boards of pharmacy, as well as boards from the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and 10 Canadian provinces. To address regional concerns effectively, the boards are organized into 8 geographical districts, enabling NABP to develop innovative programs that meet current public health needs and anticipate future challenges.

Engagement 1: Self-Awareness & Emotional Intelligence

Challenge

The NABP identified an opportunity to strengthen employees’ self-awareness, social awareness, and critical thinking skills to enhance overall decision-making. By fostering an environment where individuals can objectively receive feedback, consider diverse perspectives, and engage in thoughtful problem-solving, NABP aimed to create a more collaborative and resilient workplace. This focus on emotional intelligence and constructive communication would empower employees to approach challenges with greater confidence and clarity.

We designed and delivered a custom full-day online session on Putting Awareness into Action: Exploring the Self & Others. This session addressed the critical skills required to enhance self-awareness, social awareness, critical thinking, active listening, and overall emotional intelligence.
