Client Overview

The Office of the Auditor General of Ontario is an independent, non-partisan Office of the Legislative Assembly. They serve Members of Provincial Parliament and the people of Ontario. The Auditor General plays an important role in holding provincial public-sector and broader-public-sector organizations accountable for financial responsibility, well-managed programs and transparency in public reporting. To achieve these goals, they conduct financial statements, value-for-money and compliance audits and reviews of provincial ministries and agencies. They also audit Crown corporations and organizations in the broader public sector that receive provincial funding, such as hospitals and long-term-care homes, universities and colleges, and school boards.

Opportunity

The Office of the Auditor General first reached out to SkillsCamp looking to create training plans for employees that would help align them when it came to more professional and tactful communication. They also wanted to ensure the employees better understood each other and could communicate and collaborate more successfully with external stakeholders and partners.

SkillsCamp Solution

From 2020 to 2024, SkillsCamp has collaborated with the governmental office to deliver a range of impactful training sessions. We began with a pilot full-day live online workshop on Exceptional Professional Communication, which received excellent feedback from participants. This initial success paved the way for three additional full-day online programs focused on Emotional Intelligence & Conflict Resolution, Stress Management & Productivity, and Mastering Feedback.

Over the years, our partnership has expanded to include five more topic areas, delivered through a blend of full-day sessions, both online and in-person, ensuring that teams are equipped with the skills needed for success in their roles.

Results

In one of our most recent sessions on Preventing & Resolving Conflict Effectively:

  • 83% of respondents said the course enhanced their understanding of the subject matter being discussed.
  • 83% of respondents rated their SkillsCamp facilitator “excellent” at creating and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.
  • 83% of respondents rated their SkillsCamp facilitator “excellent” at presenting ideas and concepts clearly.

Testimonials

5 star review for SkillsCamp’s online learning! A full day can be a long time to maintain people’s attention, but we were engaged the whole time! I was also able to use our work on conflict in my work that day!
